My Story

Where I Work

I live and work in Carlingford, County Louth, at the foot of the Cooley Mountains. The land and sea here shape almost everything I make, the colours, textures and forms I see on daily walks and runs often make their way into my prints. It’s a place full of detail and I find endless inspiration in the small shifts of the landscape.

How it Started

My background is in art and design, with a foundation in drawing that still anchors everything I do. I’ve always been drawn to detailed line work, especially the studies of Albrecht Dürer and the pastoral scenes of Rembrandt.

I started out making pen and ink drawings from life, studying plants, birds and the way light moves. Over time, I became curious about how to develop these drawings into something layered and tactile, that’s what led me to screen printing.

I’m drawn to the things we pass by, the overlooked, the seasonal, the ever-changing textures of the land.

My Process

Every print begins with a drawing, from something I’ve observed or noticed while out walking. I refine the image to create strong, clear lines that are ready for print. Once it’s been sized and printed onto acetate, I expose it onto a photo-sensitive screen using light, then wash it out by hand.

From there, ink is pulled through the open areas of the screen onto either paper or linen, one layer at a time. Some pieces use multiple screens to build up colour and form. It’s a process that takes time, patience and a bit of mess, but I love how hands-on it is.

Material & Editions

I work with two main media, natural Irish linen and Fabriano paper. The linen has a soft, earthy texture that gives depth to each piece and interacts beautifully with ink. Fabriano paper allows for finer detail and has a warm tone that suits my style.

All prints are made using water-based inks and pulled by hand in small, limited editions. Some are individually finished to bring out specific lines or colours, so no two are ever exactly the same.

Inspiration from Irish Landscapes

Much of my work is rooted in noticing, the curve of a stem, the sudden burst of yellow in a rapeseed field, birds lifting through the trees. I’m drawn to what’s native, seasonal and sometimes overlooked.

Whether I’m walking a coastal path or wandering through hedgerows, I’m always looking for small details that hold a moment of stillness or surprise. I also love to travel across Ireland, observing how each place brings its own character and rhythm.

Where You'll Find My Work

My prints have been shown in exhibitions, featured in Irish publications and selected for interior projects and collaborations. You can explore some of those here. They’re also stocked in craft and design shops across Ireland and Northern Ireland, or you can buy them directly here, through my online shop.

It means a lot to know these pieces make their way into people’s homes, whether as gifts, keepsakes or just something that caught your eye.

Stockists

Every print begins with a moment that caught my eye, something unexpected, overlooked or beautiful.
